Reflecting on 2012 Cape Town Marathon…

Standard

Steve Jobs “There are times when you run a marathon and you wonder, Why am I doing this? But you take a drink of water, and around the next bend, you get your wind back, remember the finish line, and keep going”.

I was so unprepared for the Cape weather, still don’t know how I pulled it off to run in wind and rain for almost 5hrs! Felt great just finishing – no doubt I have met and conquered my fear of the elements!

Confessions of a Running Addict!

Standard

What a roller-coaster ride these past 6 months! So much happened. So many ups and downs (mostly downs…I think), hectic schedules, barely coping – never mind updating my blog. I missed putting my thoughts on ‘paper’, struggled to get started again, cos I was not sure how to start, where to start, what to say. But as they always say…Just Start! So here I am turning a new page, new running season, new adventure, looking forward to SUMMER!!!

I am enjoying my early morning runs again. With each run I learn more about myself, more about what I want – as wife, mother, daughter, sister, full-time CAREER woman (yes, I have made my peace with this one), a friend, a running buddy…as a runner.

With that being said I am ready to take on new challenges; take more risks; not be scared to put myself out there and go after my dreams. Some BIG ADVENTURES awaits! Not gonna be easy, but not impossible. With patience, dedication and the right training program I will be able to achieve my goals and cope with whatever life throws at me. Catch…Gotcha! :-).

I am running Jacaranda City Challenge tomorrow ( a toughie!, so I am only doing the half marathon). After Cape Town marathon I just have this desire to run all the big or major cities in the WORLD! Where best to start than in your home country. Pretoria tomorrow and then there is the Soweto Marathon coming up in November. Who knows from there. There is no limit to what you can achieve in this sport. So many opportunities, adventures awaits. I get a kick out of going farther and faster than I thought I could, who knows where I will end up.

There is just no stopping me now!!! I CONFESS – I AM A RUNNING ADDICT!
