A GREAT 2011!

What a great year! I have been blessed with great health and are looking and feeling GOOD! Running for a year injury-free is indeed a milestone! I have so much to be greatful and excited about. The year certainly had its highs and lows, but by far MORE HIGHS THAN LOW. Absolutely worth-it! :-).

What I will always treasure and value most, something you can only appreciate if you’ve been through it all is the JOURNEY…They always say life is a journey and not a destination…so true! For me preparing and working hard to achieve my goals are what makes all of this FUN. On race day, it is really just about enjoying it! Trusting that the training you have done in the months prior was right and enough. :-). I suppose you can apply this to everyday life.

The one thing that surprise me most about my running is the fact that I started this blog. I always wanted to blog, was not sure what to write about or how to start. And now I am just doing it, not even thinking about content anymore. And I am loving it! Just shows you what you can do if you are passionate about the stuff you doing. So those days I find it difficult to get into my training, I just remind myself how good my running has been for me and ask myself if I really want to give it all up now??? The answer is always…Not In A Million Years!

Quote of the day: “Marathons are extraordinarily difficult, but if you’ve got the training under your belt, and if you can run smart, the races take care of themselves. When you have the enthusiasm and the passion, you end up figuring how to excel”. Deena Kastor

About Moerieda Mackay

Late to running and absolutely loving it! I'm married to my soulmate, Adam and blessed with 3 beautiful children. I am a Business Transformation and Innovation Professional and holds a MSc (Eng) in Industrial Engineering. Yip, a bit of a workaholic. I became addicted to ultra running whilst searching for that elusive “work-life” balance at the age of...40! I have no sporting background and with zero athletic ability running is by far the most challenging thing I've taken on but it has put me on a path of self discovery and serious transformation both physically, mentally and spiritually...and I love it!
