TWO OCEANS HALF MARATHON – 5 Days to GO!

Standard

I am finally in Cape Town. Relaxing on the beach and ready for the race. I have never trained for any physical event before and this whole experience of training, racing and sticking to a programme however difficult, is something I hold very dear. I have learnt so much about myself, about how strong I really am – I know I have it in me to achieve what I set out for myself.

My children have already asked me what I am going to do after Two Oceans. I am not sure. What I do know is that I have come along way…from someone who could not even run for one minute on a treadmill to running a half marathon in just 6 months! Not sure how and when it happened but I have learnt to love running and now can proudly say. I AM A RUNNER….

Need to do carbo loading this week. Not sure how, think I will just do the potato and pasta thing. Don’t want to experiment too much at this stage.

TWO OCEANS COUNTDOWN…10 days to go!

Did my LAST hill training yesterday. It was tough, but I was mentally strong. I came out of the session feeling good, like I have achieved what I wanted to do for the session and I still felt as if I could go on for much longer…and that for HILLS :-).

I am so excited at the moment right now. I feel ready and prepared, knowing that I have done all the training I should have done. There is not much left for me to do now. Just easy runs and maybe some speed work in the gym. YES, YES, YES!

This morning’s long run was tough – I am so tired. I did not pushed too hard, but was exhausted when I eventually hit the hill at 11km. From here on it will all be about taking it easy for the last 2 weeks, taking care of all the ailments and making sure I don’t get a cold or flu!
