Finishing off training this week with my last long run. Will see how I feel on Sunday and do a last 15km. Wanted to run a race, but I think it will be too stressful, for the first time I am gonna listen to my body, I can feel that I am a bit tired now. I have done all the hard work, stuck to my programme, ran the races and what is left is just to remain focus on my goal and perhaps work on my confidence and mental mantra. I am so scared I won’t be able to finish for whatever reason. All that hard work, NO THAT CANNOT HAPPEN!
Focused on speed yesterday, at some point I will do the hills again before I head off to CPT. Might try and do a “mini” simulation of the route on Sunday, so will pick a route that is fairly flat for the first 10km and then run the hill. I have done the numbers, with all sorts of pacing variations and at this stage it seems like 2:45-2:50 finish, taken into consideration the 26 000 runners and the fact that I have an E seeding :-(. Suppose I have to except the fact that I AM STILL A NOVICE…let’s be courteous and let the veterans go first :-). Will run a good race, so that I can go for a PB next year when I do my FIRST ULTRA MARATHON!
