It is finally here!! My last week of training!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Went to the gym on Saturday to test my muscles. I seemed to have recovered well from my 1st half marathon. Just have a pain down the side of my calf where I am still a bit bruised, hopefully this will also go away over the next 2 weeks.

Not sure why, but I am starting to doubt myself. I did my 1st half marathon and I have actually done very well. For some or other reason I don’t believe it is going to be EASY to finish within cut-off time of 3hrs. Because I am a 1st time novice runner you are automatically seeded last. I’ve heard that it can take you a good 15mins to struggled through the crowds and for the first 5km you will just be going slow because of the crowds so I don’t believe I will be able to do another 2:30 HALF – need to work on that mental mantra.

Went shopping for a long sleeve running T yesterday. The mornings are getting colder and it is getting lighter later so running outside in the morning is becoming a bit of a challenge. Also cannot risk getting sick now, so I am just playing it safe. Went for my Sunday run much later. JUST TOOK VERY SLOW. Did not take any water with me, so I struggled a bit. Thought the route I was running was going to be around 10km, turned out to my surprise that it was only 8km…but is felt like 10km 😦 !

Focus for the week will be on strength training, so it is me and THE HILLS!

“There are few experiences in life in which my physical and psychological abilities are as sharply defined as they are during marathon training and racing…The training and racing experiences have shown me sides of myself that I never knew existed. I’ve found perseverance, an ability to focus, stubbornness, compulsiveness, bravery, organization, a sense of humor, and a capacity for unbridled joy.” Gordon Bakoulis Bloch, How to Train for and Run Your Best Marathon

I became addicted to ultra running whilst searching for that elusive “work-life” balance at the age of...40! I have no sporting background and with zero athletic ability running is by far the most challenging thing I've taken on but it has put me on a path of self discovery and serious transformation both physically, mentally and spiritually...and I love it!
