I am still recovering from my Valentine’s nite race. I am suppose to run 15km today…my body is saying NO. My muscle still sore and aching and I have never felt like this before. Could be a combination of loading more km this week and doing a race. I really struggled to get onto the road this morning, but I knew I had to do it, even if I had to walk the whole way. And that is exactly what I did! I walked for 10km…took me 2hrs :-)! Even got a chocolate milk shake on the way, felt I deserved every bit of it…I tried to run, but it was so difficult. Not that I was in pain or sore or anything. I wanted to run, but my body just did not want to do it.
Heading back to the gym
I might be starting to get burnt out, so I need to start and change something in my routine. My focus for this month was to build up to a long run of at least 18km…I am at 13km now and i just feel tired mentally…need some serious motivation. Taking a break is not going to help now, cos the goal is to get as much kms on the legs during this stage. It would probably be a good idea to go to the gym and do some cross training as well. The variation of would be good and I can also do some speed work on the treadmill.
Quote of the day
“If someone says, ‘Hey, I ran 100 miles this week. How far did you run?’ ignore him! What the hell difference does it make?…. The magic is in the man, not the 100 miles.“
– Bill Bowerman
